Quick Notes

  • Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor and texture.
  • Toast whole spices like cumin and coriander seeds and grind them yourself for maximum flavor.
  • Don’t be afraid to adjust the spice level to your liking.
  • Adding a splash of cream or coconut milk can help balance out the spiciness and create a creamier texture.
  • Serve Mushroom Masala with rice or naan bread to soak up the flavorful sauce.
  • Save time by preparing your ingredients ahead of time and measuring them out before cooking.
  • Use a wide and deep pan or wok to cook the dish, so the mushrooms and sauce have enough space to cook properly.
  • If you want to make the dish extra special, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
  • Experiment with different types of mushrooms to find your favorite variation.
  • Leftover Mushroom Masala can be reheated and enjoyed the next day, making it a great meal prep option.
